About/Work

A little bit about me for your files, you say? Very well; here goes.

Born and raised: Isle of Wight. I’m an official, and proud, caulkhead. Google it. You can take the boy out of the Isle of Wight, but…

Partner in life and crime: TV producer, Sarah Beardsall. Also a caulkhead. By no coincidence at all.

Family background: migrants to Scotland in the 1800s, but not – as a persistent Isle of Wight rumour has it – stranded pirates. Alas. Post-war ice cream magnates, local councillors and public servants. More recently, film and TV types. Proud son, brother, and uncle. Ridiculously lucky Dad to Dante, Louisa, Giorgio and Rosa.

Education: Medina High School, Isle of Wight; Merton College, Oxford (Philosophy, Politics and Economics)

Passions: read this blog! TL,DR: Family and the politics of kindness, compassion and redistribution.

Work: writing, producing, ‘showrunning’ TV/film drama and comedy; politics; commentating; campaigning; strategising; advising. Click below for some edited highlights:
