Our brilliant dad, Edward, passed away on Easter Sunday, 2026, aged 104.
We’ve been absolutely bowled over by the messages of condolence pouring in.
We knew he was loved in his day. We knew he played a huge role in the community in his day.
But we also knew that many of his contemporaries were long since gone. And we knew he had not been ‘out and about’ in recent years.
It was to be expected, therefore, that he would have been largely forgotten.
Not so!
Thank you so much to our friends on the Island and (far) beyond for reminding us of his generosity, his cheeky smile, his fierce grip, his curiosity, his ice cream (of course!), his irresistible positivity and indefatigable desire to contribute, to play pranks, to sing… and live.
He’s a tough act to follow, but follow we must.
Here below is a bit more about him, a twitter thread written to celebrate Edward’s 100th birthday, back in 2021.
RIP dear Dad.
